Hello Santa Barbara!
Hope you've all had a wonderful summer and that your transition into fall is going well. I’m happy to share that this newsletter will be the start of a monthly send. In each newsletter there will be informative news about recent science discoveries regarding our bodies and improving our health, relevant events and classes given here in Santa Barbara and surrounding areas. Also for fun, we'll have a monthly drawing or contest! It has been one and a half years since I opened the Santa Barbara office. I've provided sessions to more than two-hundred people. I'm thrilled to announce I now have my first Baby-Bump (pregnancy) testimony here. Congratulations to beautiful Laura, her husband, and the little one she carries!I’m sharing a link to an excellent article in The Sun magazine by Philip Shepherd, author of The Way Of An Actor. He began the book years ago, and when asked by a friend what the book was about, he responded, “Everything.” And it is. This piece was very profound for me as it affirmed the importance of the work I am doing. Our “gut brain” is every bit as critical, if not more so, than the brain in our cranium. Published for April 2013, issue (448), Shepherd talks about how science has proven that there are two brains, the cranio brain and the stomach/gut brain, a web of neurons that line the gastrointestinal tract that act as an independent brain. A new field of medicine was created called neurogastroenterology, just to study this other brain! If you’re a fan on my Facebook business page, you may have seen this already, but I’d like to share it here too because it brilliantly states that we can learn what we’re really about from the body, and not from the mind. Send me your thoughts after reading this. I look forward to hearing what you think. Shepherd writes, “To survive, we sometimes put our emotions on hold for decades before we’re strong enough to integrate them. But they remain in the body, preventing stillness.” My own practice of stillness continues to take new forms: sitting in the park listening to the birds, the practice of deep listening with others, and even archery! There is a profound stillness within before the arrow is released and it is a liberating feeling. Oh, that I could keep this feeling with me all the time! Link to article:http://philipshepherd.com/the-sun/ If you’re on Facebook and not a fan of my business page, fan me there, and if you’re within the first 10 Likes which will be used for a hat drawing. You could win a $20 Gift Certificate to Boochies Café {no longer active}. Boochies is new to Santa Barbara on De La Guerra St. Welcome Boochies! May you enjoy the profound peace of stillness in your lives, however it arrives. ~Jada
